Two More Physicians Join In-House Specialists in Hospital Care

pr_20100326_expands_service(March 26, 2010 - Rockville Centre, NY) Continuing the strengthening and expansion of its Hospitalist Service, Mercy Medical Center has added two more highly-trained and experienced specialists to the in-house physicians who attend to and coordinate the care of patients while they are in the hospital.

Betina Louis, MD of Westbury, who is board certified in internal medicine and also trained in geriatrics, joins Mercy from the hospitalist staff at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Louis received her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, and did post-graduate training at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey. She has participated in both teaching and research activities, including co-authorship of poster presentations at annual meetings of the American Medical Directors' Association and the American College of Preventive Medicine.

Julia Suarez, MD of New Hyde Park, who is board certified in internal medicine, joins Mercy's staff after a decade of respected practice in Rockville Centre. Dr. Suarez received her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and did post-graduate training at Montefiore Medical Center in The Bronx. Her earlier experience included positions at NYU Downtown Hospital and the Downtown Family Care Center in Manhattan.

With the addition of Dr. Louis and Dr. Suarez, there are now more than a dozen hospitalists at Mercy, providing around-the-clock physician attention to patient needs, and the highest quality of collaboration, communication and coordination with patients' community-based physicians.
