Latest Joint Commission Gold Seal of ApprovalTM Demonstrates
Compliance With National Standards For Healthcare Quality and Safety

(November 5, 2010 - Rockville Centre, NY) Mercy Medical Center has received another full 3-year accreditation and Gold Seal of Approval^TM from The Joint Commission, the nation's predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.

The accreditation was granted following a four-day on-site audit of patient-care services October 26-29, and demonstrates Mercy's compliance with The Joint Commission's state-of-the-art national standards for healthcare quality and safety for both its Hospital and Behavioral Health Care services.

Mercy has continuously held full accreditation from The Joint Commission since the inception of such recognition more than 40 years ago.

An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Since 1951, The Joint Commission has maintained standards that focus on improving the quality and safety of care provided by health care organizations, and Joint Commission accreditation is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization's commitment to meeting those standards.
